Find the Right Dealer and Become a Junkie
“A leader is a dealer in hope.”
Napoleon Bonaparte
Tons (and I mean truck loads) of people claim to be leaders. And then there are tons (and I mean boat loads, like giant cargo ships) of people that are in leadership positions (supervisors, managers, executives). What’s that saying about too many cooks?
If you are in a position of leadership, claim to be leader, or some day want to be in the position of leading others, ask yourself this question, “Is there enough evidence to convict me of being a hope dealer?”
So many, in leadership positions, manufacture and distribute discouragement, pessimism, hopelessness, doubt, and endless problems without offering solutions. If there was a leadership police, they would get busted, not only for possession of “expectation of the worst”, but large enough amounts to be charged with the intent to distribute.
On the flip side, if you aren’t in a leadership position, and those you are following are dealing cynicism, sarcasm, and mediocrity…RUN!! Run from them, hard and fast. Run like the wind, and never go back! They are crushing you, and your future. If the boss at work is distributing hopelessness, and a gloomy outlook, and it’s causing despondency and melancholy, QUIT that job! I’m not kidding. If you are following a leader, that is NOT a dealer in hope, your future is in serious jeopardy.
Find a leader that is offering up the confident expectation you can win, that your life can be great, and that you can maximize your gifts and talents (and yes, you have gifts and talents). Better yet, become that leader, a dealer of hope. Manufacture and distribute optimism, confidence, expectancy of awesomeness in life, and that diligence brings reward. Foster your own dream first, and then help everyone you meet foster theirs. Write out your own vision first, and then encourage everyone you meet to write out theirs.
I expect a great life, and guess what? I’ve got a great life. It’s available to everybody, just find the right dealer, and then become a strung-out hope junkie.
Boo Yah!
