The word attitude comes from the Latin word aptitūdō – meaning fitness and posture, and came into usage describing a sculpture or statue. What if your body language and posture weren’t a symptom of your attitude and feelings, and you used your body language, posture and demeanor to create a winning attitude and feelings?
The Warrior Culture has used this technique for hundreds of years to create “CAN-DO” attitudes within the ranks. That is why the first thing a recruit is taught a boot camp is the position of attention – back straight, shoulders and neck up, belly in and chest out, and chin tucked.
Try it – sit up straight, stand up without shoulders slumping, walk into a room like you own it – John Wayne style.
