What Are You Afraid Of?

“You are only afraid if you are not in harmony with yourself.  People are afraid because they have never owned up to themselves.”

Hermann Hesse

 What are you afraid of

YIKES!! The long hard look in the mirror at yourself, or as I like to call it, “an honest assessment”.  Owning up to one’s self is something that the vast majority of people avoid like the plague, bird-flu, swine-flu, the West Nile Virus, and SARs, combined.  What are they afraid of? Or more personally, what are you afraid of?  (Maybe you are one the very few that actually own up to yourself, if so, great job and keep your foot on the gas!) For the rest of us, take a few minutes and take good hard look at yourself, take  an honest assessment, do an inventory by asking yourself these questions:

Am I happy with the status quo of my life?

Is my life as good or as great as I want it to be?

If my life isn’t as great as I want it to be, why isn’t it?

What do I really want my life to be like?

What am I doing to get there?

Do I feel like I am just spinning my wheels and not making progress?

Why am I allowing the status quo to continue?

Is the way things are now, just my lot in life, or can I make changes for the better?

What is it that I could be doing, that I’m not doing, to move forward?

Why aren’t I doing that?

Am I afraid?

Why?

What will happen if I continue avoiding what I’m afraid to do, even though I know it will make my life better? (HINT: The status quo or worse).

Here’s the action step for today: OWN UP TO THYSELF!

No B.S., no prevaricating, no soft-soaping it, no kid-gloves. This is the first step to moving past the thing(s) that are holding you back.

Boo Yah!!
