This week, we are striving for excellence.  Today, we are concentrating on Excellence as it relates to our business or career.

career excellence

“The kind of people I look for to fill top management spots are the eager beavers, the mavericks.  These are the ones who try to do more than they’re expected to do – they always reach.”   Lee Iacocca

“All successful employers are stalking people who will do the unusual, people who think, people who attract attention by performing more than is expected of them.”  Charles M. Schwab

“The man who comes up with a means for doing or producing almost anything better, faster or more economically has his future and his fortune at his fingertips.”  J. Paul Getty

Strictly speaking from my experience, it’s never been easy for me to go with the flow and dial down my performance level to the level of my peers.  I just don’t have it in me to give less than my best. If you share this trait with me then you already know that it’s an uphill climb, because you are seen as a threat, (not just to your peers but most likely your boss, and your boss’s boss, as well).  Don’t let that scare you though, if you re-read today’s quotes and who said them, that tells you all you need to know.  Iacocca, Schwab, and Getty, all masters of EXCELLENCE and Peak Performance, also at the top of the business food chain.  I’m going to go with what the top Peak Performers are looking for and listen to their counsel.  I really and truly don’t care what everybody else thinks.

My wife, reminded me this week of a refrigerator magnet of her grandmother’s that said, “Well, if you’re so smart, why ain’t you RICH?”

‘Nough Said!

Boo yah!
