What’s Your Excuse?

“Ninety-nine percent of failures come from people who have the habit of making excuses.”

 George W. Carver

No Excuses

Man-O-Chevitz!! This is the absolute truth.  Quit with the excuses already.  Any excuse….at all….ever. Just stop.  Seriously.

My mentor and business partner, Steve Siebold always says, “I am the problem and I am the solution.”  Ask yourself this, “Is this excuse helping me get any better results?”  We all know the answer, so you can go ahead and say it, “NO”.

My oldest son is now in high school, but when he was pre-school age, if he made any mistake, like spill his milk, he would say, “It’s my fault, Daddy. It’s my fault.”  He would make that statement, without fail, even when he achieved something, like learning to tie his shoes, “It’s my fault, Daddy.”  Yup, Buddy! It sure is.   If we can take that same approach, we are well on our way to Peak Performance, and world-class results, in any endeavor.

On the flip side of the coin, I’ve come across people whose lives are train-wrecks, and NOTHING is their fault, it’s always somebody else’s fault.  Blaming others, or blaming the alignment of the planets and stars, or blaming the “Divine Will” is a recipe for continued failure.  Take an honest assessment of your habits, behaviors and attitudes, then make adjustments accordingly.  Almost like “magic” your results and your life will immediately begin to get better.

Be on the lookout today for anytime you make an excuse or pass blame in any direction other than your own.  Keep a running tally and write it down.  Once is an anomaly, twice is a coincidence, but after three times, it’s a habit of excuse making. Time to Cowboy UP and take responsibility.

Boo Yah!
