“Definiteness of purpose is the starting point of all achievement.”

Clement Stone

coaching

I’m a slow learner.  Real slow sometimes.  It took me years of coaching clients that ultimately failed to solve their biggest problems, to figure out I shouldn’t have been coaching them in the first place.

I sincerely wanted to help each of them.  I could see the big picture, from 50,000 feet, being emotionally uninvolved.  I knew what to do, how to do it, and exactly when to do it, to fix the problem and achieve success.  I spent hours, days, and weeks, pouring my energy into those clients. I watched them do well for about a month or two, only to witness them crash.

I also had several clients, with whom I applied the very same approach and methods, that succeeded wildly within 6 months to a year’s time.  For a long time, I thought it was me.  I finally realized, it wasn’t me, it was them.  I knew that the principles of Mental Toughness worked, and they worked every time, whenever anybody applied them.  I mistakenly believed that my definiteness of purpose to solve the client’s issue(s) was enough.  It wasn’t.  If the client didn’t have a definite purpose in mind, one in which they were committed to, then all of my coaching abilities couldn’t help them out.

Nowadays, I will not take on a client, no matter what, unless that person demonstrates a serious commitment and definiteness of purpose.  Even as recent as a few months ago, I did, seeing the how big the upside was for those people. No longer.  It’s turns out badly for everyone.

If you a serious about achievement, and getting your life on the track to greatness, excellence, happiness and fulfillment, you must be definite about it.  You must act like you have a purpose, if you don’t, no matter what coaching you get, you’ll never win.  Take a few “alone” minutes today, and get definite about your goals, whether they be physical health, relational, career, or financial. Once you are definite, we can go to work, and I’ll stay in the fight with you until you win.  If you are wishy-washy….oh, look at the time. Love ya, but I got a thing.

Boo Yah!!
