“The will to do springs from the knowledge that you can do.”

James Allen

 Daydream believer

Most folks work hard, very hard.  Why then is the middle-class shrinking and losing it’s net worth?  Why are so many just plodding through life? Punching the clock, struggling through the morning until lunch, and then barely hanging on until quitting time… Another day in the books, and one closer to an unaffordable retirement.  Why do so many of us stay in jobs we hate?

It’s not laziness.  It’s not lack of willpower.  It’s that folks don’t believe they can do any better.  Most believe with all their hearts, they are doing everything they can to do well. They just can’t see their lives any better, unless they catch a lucky break, or win the lottery.

Having a great and happy life (success and fulfillment), is available to each of us in the free world.  The truth is, the vast majority of us squander the opportunities that cross our paths because we can’t imagine that it will work out.  Exactly, we can’t imagine.  Very few people, including clients, have ever taken the time to imagine a great and happy life, and then write down what that looks like to them (i.e. a vision for their life).

Without the knowledge of what you want your life to look like, you end up with Forrest Gump’s Mama’s version of life, a box of chocolates.  You get whatever fudge they packed in the box at the candy factory.  (Oh, by the way, they stack the boxes with the cheap nasty fillings that nobody likes.)

If you are lacking the willpower to get up and go after a great and happy life, check your imagination.  You probably don’t believe you can have a great and happy life, you probably don’t know what that would look like, because you probably haven’t taken the time to imagine it. Do a little day-dreaming, and write down what you see in your mind’s eye.  You might as well, what else are you going to do waiting for lunchtime to get here?

Boo Yah!!
